Tutorial: Desc. Paragraph by ~theinklings:icontheinklings:

His eyes were wide with wonder as he twisted each way, trying to take in the whole view at once. The motion of his scaly dragon went nearly unnoticed, the whirling cosmos held his complete attention.
Earth hung below, a dull rock in a basket of shining marbles. The rainbow tails of comets brushed past at an awesome speed, and the red orange of zealous Mars reflected on his pale face. Burning stars held no danger, only beauty for the strange traveller. Frosty asteroids looked on silently as the Earthling and his devilish companion flew past on a winged wrath. The blue green of Earth now seemed welcome to the human. The universe was vast and breathtaking indeed, but there’s never been another place like home.

Another less-well-known form of prose is the Descriptive Paragraph. It, too, is more difficult that your average prose because of its limitations.
Rules for Descriptive Paragraphs:
1.) Must be pure description
-no dialogue
-no train of thought
-no sequence of events (unless you can do so with description only)

Piece is taken from portfolio (again, with permission) of same Grade 10 student. This is a description of one of the scenes in Doctor Faustus in which he requests the privilage of seeing the universe personally.
